You've got a great idea, and you're ready to take it to the next level. But what does that really mean? How can you tell if your business idea is ready for prime time? It's not just about how much money is involved; there are other factors that come into play when determining whether or not an entrepreneurial venture will succeed.

Here are five of the most valued skills that successful entrepreneurs have in common:

People skills

  • This is a broad category, but one that encompasses many of the other skills above. If you’re not able to build relationships with people, how will they know how great your product or service is? How will they trust in your ability to solve their problems? What happens when things go wrong and someone needs to be motivated, inspired or managed?

Emotional intelligence (EQ)

We all have emotions that affect our decisions—and sometimes even our judgement—but EQ means understanding how those emotions impact us so we can manage them appropriately when necessary instead of letting them dictate our actions without even realizing it!

Problem-solving skills

Problem-solving skills are an essential skill to have as an entrepreneur. Imagine your company is in trouble and needs to be saved. You need to be able to solve the problem quickly, and you need the solution to be effective. If you can't figure out how to save your business from failure, it won't survive much longer.

Problem solving skills are not just about finding a solution for one specific issue; they're also about understanding how problems evolve over time and how they may come into play in other areas of your life or business later on down the line. It takes creativity, logic and common sense—a combination of traits that can be developed over time with practice (and maybe even some help from this article!).

Time management skills

Time management is a crucial skill in business and entrepreneurship. If you're running a company and have employees, time management becomes even more important. You need to be able to manage your time effectively so that you can balance both their needs and yours.

Here are some ways to manage your time as an entrepreneur:

  • Keep a calendar. Make sure that every day has a set amount of hours dedicated to work, family time, leisure activities, etc. This will help prevent burnout while also allowing you the flexibility needed for success as an entrepreneur (especially if your job requires longer hours than normal).

  • Use apps like Google Calendar or any number of other options available on the market today in order to keep track of appointments, meetings and other engagements throughout each day with ease!

Communication skills

  • Communication skills. You must be able to communicate clearly and effectively across multiple mediums—written word (email), spoken word (phone call), face-to-face conversation (meeting). In addition to communicating with others who are just like you, this skill also involves being able to communicate effectively with those who speak different languages or come from different cultures than yourself because sometimes those differences can cause friction between cultures if mismanaged properly.

Communication skills are essential for any entrepreneur to develop. A successful entrepreneur must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers, clients and employees. Communication is also one of the key ingredients for building relationships that will help your business succeed.

Some examples of good communication skills include:

  • Speaking clearly, using simple words when you don't know technical terms

  • Listening actively by understanding what others say and asking relevant questions to make sure you understand them fully

  • Using body language that helps make yourself understood - such as nodding your head or making eye contact

Creativity skills

Creativity is essential for entrepreneurs. It's a skill that can be learned and developed, but you need to start early if you want to be successful.

The difference between creativity and innovation is the ability to make something different from what already exists. Creativity skills are needed to come up with new ideas that solve problems or improve existing business models.

Creative thinking includes brainstorming, mind mapping, visualizing how things could be done differently in order to make them more efficient or effective, generating new ideas (and then evaluating them), questioning assumptions (which means being willing to question your own belief systems), using metaphors and analogies as a way of understanding complicated issues; thinking laterally about problem solving instead of just sticking with convention; being able to see things from multiple perspectives at once (for example: thinking about someone else’s point-of-view).
