Self-awareness is a skill that can be developed. However, it takes time and effort to build it. It can be helpful to keep track of how your self-awareness evolves over time so that you know what has changed (and what hasn't) about who you are.
Self-awareness is about knowing yourself, including your strengths and weaknesses, motivations, values and beliefs. It's about having a clear understanding of who you are and what you stand for
By building your self-awareness you will be able to:
Understand the impact of your actions on others: You will have a better understanding of how others perceive you so that when conflicts occur at work or home, it's easier to resolve them because there is less confusion as to why they occurred in the first place.
Be more effective with other people: People who are self-aware tend to be more effective communicators because they know how their communication style affects others (i.e., whether they're too timid or too aggressive). A person who is aware of their own feelings will also be able to pick up on the feelings of those around them making it easier for them to convey messages effectively without getting lost in translation between themselves and others around him/herself .
Pay attention to your core values
Core values are your beliefs about what is right and wrong in work and life. They're the principles that guide your decisions, shape how you act, and influence how other people see you.
Your core values help define who you are as a person—your personality type. They are consistent over time, so they're an important part of who you are from day to day, week to week and year to year. Your core values can also be considered moral or ethical guides for living life according to certain principles or standards.
When it comes down to it: knowing your core values helps with self-awareness because it gives clarity about what matters most in your life (and therefore makes decision-making easier).
Get to know your weaknesses
Self-awareness is the first step to building your self-confidence. Once you know what makes you tick and what hurts, it's easier to get a handle on how to deal with it.
When trying to improve yourself and become a better person, it's important that you remember that no one is perfect—and neither are you! It's okay for us all to have flaws; the key is knowing them and being able to overcome them. For example: if there are certain situations where you tend to be too shy or quiet, you may work on speaking up more often or making eye contact with others in order not only make yourself feel more confident but also so people may know who you are as well.
Recognize how you act under stress
Do you become more relaxed or do you tend to get more anxious? Does it depend on the type of situation? Is it related to being in a group or alone? How does your body feel when this happens (e.g., tense muscles, sweaty palms)? Once you know how you react under stress, try to notice if there are any patterns (i.e., does stress make me overeat or drink too much?). Then adjust yourself from those realizations that you had.
Learn more about past decisions
Looking at past decisions can help you understand your behavior. This can be an eye-opening experience, but it’s also one of the best ways to build self-awareness.

What is self-awareness?
Why is it important?
Self-awareness helps you understand yourself better, which can enhance personal growth.
It helps you identify your strengths and weaknesses, so you know where to focus your energy on improving yourself.
It can help with making better decisions that are aligned with who you truly are as an individual by helping you consider all factors involved in a situation before making a decision or taking action on something in your life.
If you’ve never thought about these things, it might seem overwhelming. But don’t worry! We are all works in progress, so take your time and don’t expect yourself to be perfect overnight.
