Quitting is one of the most tempting things we all face. Some of us are tempted to quit our jobs, while others may be tempted to quit a workout plan or an exercise regimen. Even if you're in the middle of something—like a new relationship or a major project that's going poorly—the temptation to give up is strong. In fact, most people who give up on their goals did so not because they lacked ability or willpower but because they were overwhelmed by circumstances and feelings such as stress, failure and discouragement. Knowing how these temptations work can help you get back on track when life throws them your way again!

Don't focus on your short-term struggles.

When you're feeling discouraged, it can be tempting to think about how much longer the journey will be and how much more effort it will take. But keep in mind that quitting gives up all the benefits of what you've already achieved so far—and it also gives up all the future benefits of continued effort. So instead of focusing on how long it will take before you get there, focus on all that's been accomplished so far! Remind yourself of all the things you've already achieved and how much further there is to go.

Don't let thoughts like "I just want this over with," or "Why bother when I'm never going to achieve my goal?" cloud your mind and make quitting seem like a good idea. Instead, focus on your long-term goals: why did you set out on this path? What do you hope to support through success?

Accept that quitting is normal.

You'll quit something at some point, and you should be OK with that. In fact, you'll need to quit something if you want to do anything meaningful or worthwhile in your life. Quitting isn't giving up; it's making room for new things.

Be realistic about how you feel.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by your emotions, especially when they are negative ones like anger or frustration. But emotions can be very powerful, so don’t let them get the best of you! Instead, focus on what is possible. You can do this!

When it comes to achieving goals, it's tempting to let our emotions get in the way and make excuses for why we shouldn't try or why things won't work out for us. It's important not to let these feelings take over because they will just keep us from moving forward with our plans. Instead of letting yourself be consumed by feelings like fear or doubt (or even excitement!), focus on being realistic about how you feel and what needs changing so that no matter what happens next time around there won't be any obstacles holding back progress toward achieving those goals again either physically or mentally - both are equally important!

Find a way to keep going.

  • It can be hard to know how long you should push through the temptation of quitting. There’s always another obstacle in life, but there are ways to overcome it.

  • Reward yourself when you do well. Everyone needs a reward sometimes, and rewards don’t have to be expensive or extravagant – they just need to make you feel good when you receive them! If there is something that makes your heart sing every time, then this could be your reward for sticking with your goals.

  • Distract yourself during tough times by doing something else that gives you some fun or relaxation - like reading a book or watching TV shows on Netflix (that aren't about quitting). Having something else going on will give your mind time off from thinking about giving up on yourself so much!

  • Get help from others if possible - whether that means talking through what's bothering them (and getting advice), asking friends who are struggling with similar things how they handled it... anything really! They may not realize how much help they could give because everyone gets stuck at points without realizing there's someone right nearby who knows exactly what needs done next."

Beware of negative thinking.

Negative thinking is normal. We are, after all, human beings—not robots or machines. And when we're trying to change our lives for the better, it's only natural to experience negative thoughts and feelings.

But beware of your self-talk: if you allow yourself to get sucked into a negative spiral of thought, your chances of success will decrease significantly. If your mind is telling you that quitting is the right thing to do and that there's no point in continuing with your goal anyway, then it's likely that those ideas will become self-fulfilling prophecies—and this can lead you right back down the path towards giving up on whatever it was that caused them in the first place!

Avoid comparing yourself to others.

The temptation to compare yourself to others is a trap that will lead you down the path of feeling discouraged, demotivated and defeated. Comparing yourself to others won't help you reach your goals. You can't control what other people are doing or how they're doing it—only you can control that for yourself. If you're not getting the results you want in your work or personal life, there's probably something that needs changing in order for things to get better.

Take a break.

If you need a break, take it. Don't be afraid of taking a break—it's okay to take one, and you're not giving up or quitting if you do so. When we first started our company, we had to deal with this temptation in a big way. We were working ridiculously long hours for months on end with no end in sight because we were so excited about what we were doing. But after having worked all day long every day for months, we got burned out and needed time away from work where we could recharge our batteries again before going back into the fray again (read: burnout).

A lot of people will tell themselves that they can't take a break because they're too stressed out about everything else going on in their lives (money problems, family problems). They may even think that taking time off will make them feel bad about themselves or like they've failed at something important in their lives. But I'm here today telling you: don't listen! These are thoughts created by your lizard brain trying to get you to give up when things get hard instead of pushing through them with grit and determination until it all works out—which it does!

Use the right tools.

The right tools can help you stay motivated and make progress. Here are some things to consider:

  • Journaling is a great way to keep track of your progress. You can write about how you're feeling, what obstacles you're hitting, and how you plan to overcome them. This can help keep you from getting distracted by other things.

  • Finding a friend or family member who will support your goals is another way to stay motivated when times get tough (and they will). They'll be there for encouragement when the going gets rough—so long as they understand the importance of your goal!

  • Apps like Fitocracy or Runkeeper can monitor your daily activity levels and provide feedback on how well you're doing at meeting certain goals (like running faster). While this isn't quite as personal as having someone in person hold you accountable, it certainly beats no one holding anyone accountable!

Know that you're not alone.

You are not alone. You may think that you are the only one who feels this way, but I can assure you that other people have been in your shoes. It is normal to feel like quitting when it seems like everything is going wrong and there’s no clear way forward.

But quitting isn't the only option—you can also persevere through these challenges by taking small steps towards your goals instead of giving up entirely. The first step is realizing that no matter how bad things seem now, they won't always be this way!

You can make it through any temptation to quit if you know what you're up against and have the right strategy for getting past it

It's important to know what you're up against before you decide to fight. Be aware of the things that trigger your desire to quit and have a plan for how to deal with them. Are you an emotional person? If so, don't wait until the moment when a trigger happens—have a strategy in place before it does!

There are many ways to avoid quitting after you've made an attempt at something. Don't let yourself become overwhelmed by fear or doubt; instead, face those things head-on and keep going even though they seem like insurmountable obstacles at first glance.

Taking a break is one of the most common strategies for overcoming any temptation to quit. If you have an important project due, take a step back and let it sit for a while. If you feel like you're going off track with your fitness routine, take some time off from exercise and look at what else might be causing stress in your life before returning to activity again. Many people find that they want to quit too early or too often when they first start out with something new (like going on a diet), but if they give themselves some time off from trying so hard then they'll come back feeling refreshed and ready to tackle whatever challenge comes next!
