If you're like me, you love the feeling of having a clear vision for your business. It's exciting, it gives you direction and purpose, and it helps you stay on track when things get hectic. If this is something that resonates with you, then you're in luck: it's not hard to get that sense of direction when you have a clear vision for your business.

Building a business is like building a house

So, how do you build your business?

Imagine building a house. You wouldn't start by building the roof, then come down to the foundation and build that. You're going to lay out your plans for what kind of house you want and build up from there. Your vision statement and mission statement are like the plans for your home; it's where all the decisions will be made about what kind of company you're going to have, what kind of culture it will have and who it serves (the people who work there). This is how we make sure that we're staying true to our values at every single level of our organization - from team members to management teams all the way up through our executive leadership team.

The foundation and the frame of your business are your vision statement and mission statement

A vision statement is a clear description of what you want your business to become. A mission statement is a clear description of what your business does. It’s important to note that while both can be aspirational, they should be distinct from one another in this regard: The former describes the future state of your company, whereas the latter focuses on how you’ll make it happen. In other words, if someone were to ask “What does it mean to have vision for my company?” related answers would include: “I want people everywhere to experience XYZ brand/product/service…[and] I am committed to providing customers with an amazing product or service they will love."

Your mission and vision, as well as your core values, have to be clear and to the point

Mission statements and vision statements are the foundation for any business. They're the base from which you build everything else in your company, including your core values.

Your mission statement should be clear, concise, measurable and written down. A good mission statement should be able to answer these questions: What do you do? Who do you serve? Why are you doing it? Mission statements can be both short and long; they can also include specific information or they can leave room for interpretation (depending on what makes sense for your company).

As with anything else in making a business plan, keep things simple by keeping it short!

You can have a lot of fun with your vision boards, but use them to guide you, not control you

You can have a lot of fun with your vision boards, but use them to guide you, not control you.

The purpose of a vision board is to help you reach your goals. It's not the end goal; it's merely the guide that helps you get there. In other words, don't let your vision board become an obstacle in and of itself! You may have all sorts of goals for yourself or even your business/organization (or both), but if they're not aligned with what matters most to you deep down, then it won't work out well at all (and this goes for anything else we do in our lives). So make sure that whatever steps forward on your journey toward success take place in service of what's important to YOU—not just because someone else said so!

As with most things worth doing well and often, having vision boards should be an ongoing process—not something done once every few months at best.

There are 2 types of vision boards: ones that focus on the future, and ones that get you through the present

Vision boards can be used to help you get through the present.

If you have an idea of where you want to go and what it will look like when you get there, then a vision board can help you get there faster. This is especially true if the space between where you are now and where you want to be feels vast, or if the only thing holding back your success is time—in other words, if all things being equal (i.e., all else being equal), your day job is fine but it’s not going anywhere fast because of a lack of focus on what it takes for long-term success.

If this sounds like something that resonates with who or what we are today as humans living in our current reality on Earth as part of this universe which itself exists among countless others…and let’s face facts: It does! We all face these kinds of challenges every single day—then understanding how vision boards work together with our intuition (which I believe comes from God) might just take us from okay now into amazing tomorrow!

Create vision boards for what you want the future to look like

A vision board is a collage of images and words that represent what you want your business to be like. It should include pictures of your ideal clients, location, and lifestyle. Find images that speak to how you want things to be. Also write down any words or phrases that come to mind when thinking about your future business.

Create several vision boards for different aspects of your business: one for the services you offer, another for the type of clientele you want on board, another for the environment in which customers will receive those services (or even if customers will enter at all).

Create vision boards for where you are now

  • Create a vision board for your business.

  • Use pictures and words to express what it looks like when you're running the business you want.

  • Use the power of visualization to help you achieve your goals.

It's important to put a name to what you want in order to achieve it

It’s important to put a name to what you want in order to achieve it. It’s not enough to just know that something would make your life better—you need to be able to explain exactly what that thing is. When you have a clear vision, it makes it easier for you to find the motivation and energy required for achieving your goals. As an entrepreneur, one of the most valuable skills I have learned is how important our internal dialogue—our mental chatter—can be in shaping our experiences and our lives. Having a clear vision helps me stay focused on my goals and keep moving forward even when things get tough or overwhelming (which they will).

Vision has several parts, which work together to give you direction for your business

Having a clear vision of what you want to accomplish with your business is important for several reasons. It gives you direction, allows you to prioritize goals, and helps you stay motivated. Imagine if the CEO of Coca Cola doesn't know what their goal is! The company would be all over the place, without any focus or purpose.

As an entrepreneur, you probably don't want that happening in your business either—you want to be able to prioritize tasks and make sure everyone on your team knows what they're working towards every day. That's where vision comes in handy: it helps keep things on track by giving everyone involved in the company a clear picture of what success looks like from here on out.

Takeaway

You can have a lot of fun with your vision boards, but use them to guide you, not control you. Start by creating one or two vision boards that focus on where you want your business to be in 5 years. Then create an annual plan for each year to get there. Finally, create a couple more vision boards that remind yourself why this work is important: because it will make a difference in people’s lives and help them be happier!
